Perhaps the oddest part of the last three days is how comfortable we've felt here. We may be 4,000 miles away from Kentucky, but we feel very close to home, closer than either of us felt on our student exchanges to Massachusetts and Arizona. We have yet to see a part of the city that has intimidated us, and have not at any point felt scared--much different than a trip to New York.
Our next stop is Vienna, Austria, though we still have one more night here. We're going to a Biergarten/Beergarden downtown to watch the World Cup/Welt Meisterschaft championship (Spain vs. Netherlands) with our new friends, Steffan and Sabrina. They have lived here in Munich for three months and showed us a few things yesterday, and we stayed with them last night and will again tonight before leaving.
Picture time.
This is me in Keflavic, Iceland. Our plane arrived there at 6:00 AM, Iceland-time. It was cold. The best part about the flight there (since I didn't sleep) was the beautiful scenery that we flew over. I saw the coasts of Greenland and though we drove through the night, it was never actually dark. The sky was red in between sunrise and sunset, only an hour span.
Here are some photos from our days in Munich. The other two people in the pictures are Sabrina and Steffan, our current hosts.
