After spending a few days in Iserlohn, Germany, with an old friend of Kelsey's who had moved there three years earlier, we took a train back south to Allgau, a county in Bavaria which borders Austria and is known for its beautiful nature. It is also located in the Alps, though more on the edge of the range, so the mountains are not as tall or severe. Two friends of mine work in Allgau at Sprachkamp Allgau, an summer camp for German kids learning English. Our specific location was Kranzegg, a village of no more than 500 with only two restaurants, a bakery, a cheese shop, a beer store which is open only two hours per day (10-noon), and a ski-lift. It was very refreshing for us to be with our friends from Western Kentucky again, the same two that we had met up with in Munich at the beginning of our trip. There wasn't much to do but hike, go to the restaurant, and, of course, build a fort of blankets in Jordan's studio apartment.
After two great, peaceful nights with Doug and Jordan, Kelsey and I decided on our next destination as the town of Ulm, only a two-hour train ride and also Einstein's birthplace.
